It’s starting to feel like Antonio Conte has a massive “Wheel of Fortune” style wheel in the middle of his office to decide his transfer targets, especially in defence, and it looks like it’s landed on a new name.
Chelsea’s Premier League victory last season suggests that of all the big six sides they are the team with the least improvement necessary but Antonio Conte clearly refuses to rest on his laurels.
One of the biggest stories of pre-season has been the Italian’s decision to get rid of Diego Costa and bring in a new striker, presumed to be former Blues striker Romelu Lukaku.

But the second biggest priority for Conte looks to be strengthening his defence with Alex Sandro expected to make a big money move from Juventus and news of a centre-back moving to west London being rife at the moment.
Some reports had suggested that Chelsea were going to bring in either Virgil van Dijk or Leonardo Bonucci to ‘the Bridge’ this summer but with neither deal making any movement there’s now a new player in the picture.
According to Sky Italia the Blues have contacted Bayern Munich about the possibly availability of German centre-back Jerome Boateng as the club look to replace John Terry.

Conte was desperate to add a centre-back or two to his team last summer and eventually brought in David Luiz on the last day of the transfer window in what seemed like a bit of a panic buy.
In hindsight thought it was a very good signing for the team, specifically when they moved to three at the back. But with Champions League football to come next season the squad is in need of more quality options.
David Luiz’ return to the Premier League definitely worked out well.
There’s no suggestion from Sky Italia that Chelsea will be able to sign Boateng but he could fancy a move back to England to prove himself after such a poor showing in his last move to the Premier League.
The German played for Manchester City for just one season in 2010/11. He moved back to the Bundesliga where he has become one of the world’s top defenders, winning five league titles, the Champions League and winning the Footballer of the Year in Germany in 2015/16 season.
Boateng would be perfect for Chelsea. Which centre-back do you think the Blues will sign?
